About our

History

Springs Cotton Mills was founded in 1886, by Leroy Springs and Elliot White in Lancaster, South Carolina. This first mill created textile collections for the American consumer. These designs became part of a library of textiles as inspiration for future designers. Baxter Mill Archive now houses these authentic American textile designs, including iconic brands of their time Springmaid and Wamsutta. It all began as a passion for collecting and preserving historical textile prints and has since revolved into a go-to destination for designers who enjoy our end-to end Design Center experience.
